Catwoman, Silk Spectre and Darth vader storm the runway yay!

I'm really loving the catwalk back in 2009. The Metropolitan Museum of Art illustrated this connection with their "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" exhibit, in which Dior did Wonder Woman, Mugler did Catwoman  and McQueen channeled X-Men. And despite the ongoing recession and general spirit of doom and gloom pervading fashion week this time around, we couldn't help but spot a few fantastical superhero themes in the mix. Whether it was Darth Vader invading Rick Owens or Nite Owl at Nina Ricci, these designers really stuck out in making clothes that still fuel our wildest dreams. Hey, who ever said fashion can't save the world?

Love

I was looking through Tumblr just then, and came across this picture of model Xiao Wen Ju, I'm nor sure who she was modeling for but I absolutely love the retro looking spectacles with the chain, her hair which looks very 1960's and the blouse with the brooches and baggy looking jeans, I actually prefer skinny jeans, but these ones look really good with the whole outfit and the way her hair is done.

I was just looking through American Apparels catalogue, and saw these really cute t-shirt leotards for only $69.00. Definitely on my to get list.

16 natural skin tips

  1. To lighten dark spots and acne marks, dab on fresh squeezed lemon juice, or apply organic grass-fed yogurt to your entire face and neck (leave on for 10 minutes) to lighten and brighten your skin
  2. Cleanse your skin every morning and night to stop it from oiling up and to wash make up off your face
  3. Prevent and eliminate blackheads, dry skin, and give your skin a dewy look just by drinking at least 2 liters (1/2 gallon) of filtered water per day – sounds like a lot, but it will do the trick!
  4. Speaking of water, filter your shower and sink water so you're not dumping chlorine and chemicals on your skin and hair – you will end up with soft skin and healthier hair, and if you have asthma and allergies, it may help with that too
  5. Use a lotion mask nightly (or in the morning before applying makeup), for a beautifully moisturized and glowing complexion (for more info on lotion masks, I highly recommend reading The Japanese Skincare Revolution)
  6. Pimple Emergency! To heal a pimple quickly, apply 100% tea tree oil with a cotton swab directly onto the pimple every few hours, and apply vitamin E oil on the spot at night, about 1 hour before bedtime. I all use a little bit of Witch hazel on pimples too wich help by drying them out.
  7. Give yourself a glow, shrink pores, give your skin an antioxidant burst, and even out skin tone with some champagne and a cotton ball
  8. Puffy face? Drink dandelion tea and try a 3-minute Tanaka face massage to get the lymph moving and eliminate puffiness
  9. Prevent pimples and keep your skin smooth with glycolic acid from a sugar scrub – mix organic cane sugar with your face or body wash in the palm of your hand, or try my DIY simple scrub
  10. Whiten your teeth by brushing with straight baking soda (you can add some xylitol for a better taste – it’s a sweetener derived from birch trees)
  11. For a quick glow, apply a few drops of olive, coconut, or jojoba oil to the tops of your cheekbones and your browbones (where you would apply highlighter or shimmer cream)
  12. Sleep on silk pillowcases to prevent hair damage/breakage and keep your skin looking youthful – I swear by silk, your hair and skin will thank you! And always remember to wash your pillow cases regulary so that dirt from the pillow does not cause pimples.
  13. Take a quality vitamin C supplement to prevent early aging and help your body produce collagen – I love Health Force Nutritionals Truly Natural Vitamin C powder (I take 2 tsp. twice per day)
  14. Keep your skin supple and smooth by supplementing with fish oil – I use Carlson Labs Cod Liver Oil (liquid) in lemon flavor
  15. Eat 1 cup of leafy greens daily (preferably steamed, juiced, or blended for best digestion) to keep your complexion clear and under-eye circles at bay
  16. You can use sugar externally, but avoid eating it since it can cause breakouts (not to mention headaches and mood swings) – use raw honey, stevia, or xylitol instead

Summertime in the air

So today, my partner and I went out shopping and literally it felt like we were back in Queensland. It was so warm, but nice. I'm definitely going to have to get my summer wardrobe ready. But also bare in mind that the summers down here aren't as bad as they are back at the main land.
